Cebu asks for the same structure at lower absolute numbers, and its power bills are gentler. Lease flexibility matters too: shorter, month-to-month options are more common around IT Park, which suits freelancers who still aren't sure where they'll settle. And don't discount the commute: Manila's traffic can turn a 5-kilometre trip into an hour, so the right question is not just what you pay in rent but how close you've placed yourself to your coworking base.
What Your Take-Home Actually Funds
The city choice is a cost decision, but the tax system decides how much of every peso you keep, and it's the same in either city. Take a freelancer grossing ₱1,200,000 a year: under the 8% flat option the tax is ₱76,000 ((gross minus ₱250,000) × 8%), leaving about ₱1,124,000.
