Creator & Developer
Researching and maintaining freelance tax guides for 6 Asian countries based on official government regulations.
TaxCalc.asia was built by Fahmi, a freelance software engineer who spent years working remotely across Southeast Asia and couldn't find decent tax tools for freelancers in the region. It's a solo project — researched, designed, and coded by one person who believes good financial tools shouldn't require an accounting degree or a US address.
Fahmi has been working as a freelancer since 2019, navigating tax systems across Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam firsthand. Every calculator on this site reflects not just official tax regulations, but practical experience filing taxes as a freelancer in Asia.
TaxCalc.asia helps freelancers in Asia figure out their taxes in under a minute. No signups, no spreadsheets, no accountant fees. Pick your country, enter your income, and see exactly what you owe — based on current tax law.
Why This Exists
Most tax calculators are built for US or European tax systems. Freelancers in Asia have completely different rules — TRAIN Law, PPh Final, Form B, Section 44ADA — and almost no free tools cover them. This project fills that gap by implementing each country's actual tax brackets, deductions, and regime options in a simple, instant calculator.
What We Cover
| Country | Tax Systems Supported |
|---|---|
| Philippines | 8% flat rate, graduated brackets (TRAIN Law) |
| Indonesia | PPh Final 0.5%, Progressive UU HPP, NPPN |
| Malaysia | Form B progressive tax with reliefs |
| Thailand | Progressive rates with 50% standard deduction |
| Vietnam | 2025 vs 2026 tax law comparison |
| India | Section 44ADA, New Regime, Old Regime |
How the Calculations Work
Each country's tax engine is implemented from publicly available government regulations and updated for 2026. The calculators use the actual brackets, deduction rules, and regime comparisons published by each country's tax authority — not approximations. When official tax circulars or budget announcements change the rules, the calculators are updated within weeks.
Every calculator page cites its official sources so you can verify the numbers yourself. We maintain a detailed editorial policy documenting exactly where each data point comes from.
Content Sourcing & Updates
Tax regulations change frequently — new budgets, new circulars, new thresholds. We track changes from the following official sources:
- Philippines — Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) revenue regulations
- Indonesia — Direktorat Jenderal Pajak (DJP) and UU HPP regulations
- Malaysia — Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) guidelines
- Thailand — Revenue Department (RD) announcements
- Vietnam — General Department of Taxation (GDT) circulars
- India — Income Tax Department and annual Finance Acts
If you spot an error or an outdated rate, let us know and we'll investigate and fix it promptly.
Why Trust These Numbers
Every calculation is based on published government tax tables and regulations. We don't estimate, guess, or approximate. The code that powers each calculator is a direct implementation of the official rules — bracket thresholds, deduction formulas, and regime criteria as published by each country's tax authority. When official sources disagree or are ambiguous, we note the discrepancy and explain our approach.
Your Privacy
All tax calculations run client-side in your browser. We don't store, transmit, or process your income data on any server. There are no analytics scripts tracking your financial information. Enter your numbers, see your results, close the tab.
Not Professional Tax Advice
TaxCalc.asia provides estimates based on standard tax rules for typical freelance situations. It doesn't cover every edge case, exemption, or personal circumstance. If your situation is complex — multiple income sources, cross-border taxation, business entities — consult a qualified tax professional in your country. If you find a discrepancy with official calculations, email us and we'll fix it.
